How to Book, Reschedule or Cancel Appointments

REGARDING APPOINTMENTS IN GENERAL :

Of utmost importance for YOU: seeing a green encircled checkmark after booking means the spot you chose is yours.

Of utmost importance to ME: your choosing the service(s) with enough time for me to complete the job prior to the next client’s start time. HOW I cut your hair may alter once we talk. (I have skills some of you have not experienced before.)
Keep in mind, if you claim too much time for yourself it will prevent others from fitting in. However, if you’re new to me, I can often use the extra time to work with you and after will let you know which service to choose in future (saving you time and, often, money).

TO INITIALLY SCHEDULE :

Click on the rectangular “Book Appointment” button
located toward the bottom of the main page. A new tab & webpage (picktime.com) will open in your browser. Read the welcome message for anything new.

[Recommended (but not necessary): SCROLL UP first to register yourself with a password so you won’t need to fill out your name and email address every time. This can be the difference between you getting your preferred spot and someone else blocking you from it–rare, but it happens.]

Choose your SERVICE:
See Services page for lengthy descriptions. Brief ones are on Picktime.
Options are included for multiple people in one visit, facial hair in addition to haircut, unique style cuts which need more time or a simple hairline trim. By having various appointment sizes, I maximize how many clients I help daily while also staying on time–ideally neither of us waits long for the other if at all.

Select the DAY you want to come in.
Times do initially appear, but they are for the highlighted day. Where no times appear consider the shop closed to additional business that day.

Choose an arrival TIME.
Yes, they are offered in 5 min. increments to allow you as much flexibility as needed to fit your schedule. I may make 5 min. adjustments to bookings when it could allow someone else to fit in, but will not expect you to change your plans. You will get an automated email if I do.
If I would like to move your arrival time by more than 5 min., I will ask your permission.

Finally enter your name, contact info (if you didn’t register initially)
& answer ALL questions with a *

IF SUCCESSFULLY BOOKED:
a new Confirmation Page appears
w/ a green encircled checkmark
(If NOT, you do not have an appointment)

IF NO CONFIRMATION PAGE APPEARS:

– be sure ALL required [*] questions were answered (Y/N will do)
– try booking on another device
– pick a different time (someone else may have been quicker & blocked THAT spot–I’m sorry, it happens)
– Lastly, if still unsure then ask me ASAP, though I’m rarely free to reply right away.

An email (from Amanda’s) will likely arrive within seconds (or longer) unless your email address was entered incorrectly, as happens. Use this email to verify you DID book what you MEANT to book and the link it contains to cancel and reschedule as needed.
A Reminder Email will automatically be sent 24 hr before your arrival time and also contains a link at bottom to cancel.

TO RESCHEDULE: Book a new appointment.

PREFERRED METHOD : in the verification email there is a link (“here” at bottom) to cancel the current one. Once you have, a new option on Picktime will allow you to make a new appt. FYI: you will have to reenter all your info–another reason to register so some fields are filled for you.
or
OLD WAY : use the same Book Appointment button on my website to choose your new time slot & indicate the change under Booking Notes (Ex: “cancel other appt”). No explanation needed.
Then, I will cancel the unwanted appt. when I’m able.
Once cancelled you & I will both get an email saying so.

TO CANCEL:
Use the link at the bottom of the original email.
Or, you can always let me know ASAP via phone, email or text.
Again when able I will delete your booking and we’ll both get emails.
I would rather you cancel (no need to say why) than not show up.

A Note on the Past, for those who frequented Amanda’s pre-Covid:

You used to ONLY take walk-ins? Why STILL taking appointments?
Yes, for the first 5 years Amanda’s was a walk-in only establishment. It’s what I knew from the previous shop at which I worked. In May 2020, during the initial days of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and following a mandatory six-week closure of our businesses, haircutters were asked to follow a number of guidelines set forth by TN Gov. Bill Lee to open safely. .
Of those guidelines, operating by appointment rather than using waiting rooms made a great deal of sense & turned out to be a better way of operating for me than I had previously envisioned.
In addition, many returning Amanda’s clients had always advocated for haircuts by appointment while others, reluctant like me at first, discovered they love not having to waste a drive & time waiting who-knows-how long for a quality haircut.

Though I may push back at initial suggestions of altering my ways, I am willing to learn, admit I was wrong, and change how I do things.
